One jumping game. Two years of lessons.

A simple idea inspired by Froggy Jump became the first game from Midnight Studios—and a much bigger project than its founder expected.

A simple beginning

Before Just Jump!, the founder had made a few smaller games. The next step was something more ambitious: a polished mobile game for the App Store and Google Play, built around the fun of bouncing higher and trying not to fall.

The plan included different characters, abilities, environments, collectibles, and unlocks. A game design document gathered the ideas in one place. Then more ideas kept arriving.

The moving finish line

New features made the game more interesting, but they also made it harder to finish. Balancing the project with university and work made it clear that help was needed.

A developer and an artist, found through Reddit, joined the project. Over two years, characters, environments, progression, cosmetics, animations, and sound effects gradually turned the document into a playable game.

Polish has a cost

Standards changed as the game developed. Interfaces were redesigned, systems were reworked, and some finished features were removed. Every change meant more art, more development, and more time.

A story without the ending

The founder does not yet know how Just Jump! will perform when players get their hands on it. That uncertainty is part of why the Midnight Studios channel exists: to document what happens while it is happening.

Just Jump! is the first chapter. Other games are in development, and the ambition is to build a studio that lasts beyond its first release.
